ℹ️Phase Movement Tech

Different ways to use phase.

There are plenty of different things you can do with phase. Phase Boost, Phase Brake, Phase Bounce, and Phase Jump. Each having their own purpose, phase is truly one of the most interesting abilities movement-wise.

Phase Boost

Your typical phase boost involves dashing before phasing to increase your distance. Additionally, you can hold crouch so you can stay in the air for longer and make getting over obstacles easier.

Since phase lifts you slightly in the air when you're in the air yourself (doesn't lift you off the ground on its own, at least nowhere near as much as in the air), dashing off ledges helps gain more airtime, allowing for further distance. It helps jump over obstacles that normally weren't possible with just a regular phase.

Video was recorded using crouch on both attempts, but the first tries with phase were without a dash.

Phase Brake (Ronin Handbrake) and Phase Drop

Phase braking refers to the ability to literally phase without moving anywhere. It can be quite useful for evading a melee and meleeing back, for example. It also instantly halts your current momentum. Simply let go of your movement keys, “WASD,” and phase.

Phasing without pressing any movement keys in the air causes you to phase quickly downwards while also halting your entire momentum prior. This can be considered a relative to phase brake, but the name “Phase Drop” is more fitting. On the ground you'll phase in the same spot; in the air, you'll phase down.

Phase Bounce

A niche tech that lets you bounce the enemy and yourself away from the point of phase exit. Sword block is not needed; you just can't be more than 30% inside a titan, otherwise you'll take damage or just without a phase bounce happening. Phase bouncing while either your feet are in the enemy Titan's face or vice versa will cause a vertical phase bounce, throwing the both of you vertically upwards away from each other.

While it is possible to phase bounce vertically by dashing off ledges towards the enemies, it's generally a lot easier to do it while the enemy Titan is next to the ledge.

Having the enemy stand beside a ledge and phasing into their head is the easiest way to phase bounce vertically. You can't phase bounce a Northstar if you phase in reaction to seeing her hover; she'll get too high.

Phase Jump (Zery Jump)

Similar concept to a phase boost, where you dash before phasing to increase the distance traveled. But with phase jump, you want to dash nearly instantly after phasing to gain a lot of upward momentum. Dashing afterward can help you move your Titan sharply in midair.

  • Phase + dash against a steep surface.

  • Sprint + phase + dash against a steep wall (like the wall in the Glitch map spot video below).
