ℹ️Movement Tech

Useful movement mechanics that each player should know.

There are several mechanics that the game doesn't tell you, all of which have their uses and advantages.

Crouch Dashing off Ledges

Dashing off ledges while crouching lets you gain a ton of airtime, and in the air, a titan flies faster than it can sprint. Can also bounce off small objects to remain in the air for longer, letting you cover big distances that a single normal dash couldn't even cover a 1/3 of. This tech is can be combined with phase boost on Ronin for maximum distance coverage.

Especially useful on slow ogre chassis Titans that have poor mobility to begin with. Use this tech to get the most out of your dashes for moving around the map quickly.

Simply dash off a ledge while holding crouch to cover far distances.

Tap Strafing

Tap strafing is a tech that lets you turn round corners noticeably faster after a dash and being in the air. It involves tapping repeatedly the forward movement key “w” while turning with either side key “a” or “d” to quickly turn while in the air.

Dash Braking

Dash braking is a very similar concept to phase braking on Ronin, but without the drop part, and also involves a different method to work. It essentially lets you accurately set your dash distance, but its main use is for braking because it requires a distracting method to function; it's not ideal for use in the middle of combat.

Yet the brake part can be utilized well outside of combat for preventing accidentally falling off objects due to high momentum. You can brake instantly with a dash to cut off all your momentum at once, most practical for phase boosting or phase jumping.

By letting go of ALL movement keys “wasd” while looking backwards, to the direction you dashed to, down at your feet, and then dashing, you'll dash brake in place. Not looking backwards will not stop your momentum. Moreover, looking higher will cause your dash to act like an adjusted dash, less distance than a normal dash, but it's way better to just learn the tech below “Adjusting Dash Distance” for tech that works well in combat. It does not work when in the air.

0:00-0:06 Attempt to stop with a backwards normal dash. 0:07-0:13 Dash braking on a building. 0:14-0:19 Dash braking at end of phase boost. 0:20-0:33 Normal dash followed by 2 dash brakes.

Adjusting Dash Distance

The better version of “Dash Braking” is an alternative use that works better in combat. You can lower your dash by fighting against it with your backward movement key, “s.” Simply dash, followed by a press and hold of “s” as soon as possible for maximum effect. It won't make you dash brake but will lower your dash to as low as 1/3 of your normal dash.

The later you press “s” after dashing, the lesser the effect; you can reliably control the dash distance from 1/3 to full dash distance. Super handy for sword core, where you want to stand out of the enemy's melee range but still hit them with the tip of your sword.

0:00-0:08 Normal dash. 0:09-0:12 Adjusted dash of 1/3 the distance of a normal dash.
