Talking about a trick used to counter a flickering Ion

There's a very useful trick used to counter a flickering (turning vortex on and off consistently) Ion as a different Titan.

Vortex will take significantly longer to reopen, shortly after reflecting something back. Vortex plays a special extra animation when reflecting a hitscan bullet or projectile. And it requires a single bullet / projectile for the animation to play. Meaning, you can purposely fire a single bullet into the vortex to increase the time window for punishment to shoot Ion a tad before she opens her vortex again.

You can use this technique to make her flicker in your favor. Make her feel comfortable, and let her repeat the same pattern. After you memorize her flick pattern, you can sneak in something like a Powershot to punish her hard.

A very popular example with this tech is Northstar vs. Ion in close range. Ion will catch the Railgun, shoot it back and be ready before Northstar can charge her 2nd shot to shoot her, resulting in Ion catching all her shots. A cool trick to counter this is to throw a tether into her vortex while fully charged, she'll be forced to throw it out to close her vortex to save energy. When she does throw it out, she won't have the time to reopen the vortex in time because of the animation, as you shoot her for free.
